Well, hello there.

My name is Nataly Aviles! Originally from San Diego, California, I swapped coasts as I studied media communications and graphic design, cultivating my love for art and all things creative. This passion has turned into my career and led me to where I am today!

I am a freelance designer with a passion for branding + logo design, traditional art + illustration, and web + print design. I currently work for Dotdash Meredith, America's #1 digital and print publisher; through this position, I've had the amazing opportunity of designing for notable brands such as Food&Wine and Travel+Leisure.

I love radiant colors, raw textures & unique typefaces. I'm always looking for ways to incorporate a little bit of humor into my work (& all other aspects of life). I've done several freelance projects for both commercial & personal use. I also offer various branding packages for businesses seeking to build/elevate their brand identity. Please don't hesitate to reach out - I'm always open to any and all creative opportunities!

(Most importantly, I am a Pisces.)

  • What does the graphic designer actually do?
A graphic designer is a communicator of your idea, product, and solution to the world. With training as a visual communicator and problem solver, a designer will combine your content with visual elements of color, typography, line, space, shape and balance to create an unique, strategized project for your business or organization. A designer will also handle all ‘mechanical requirements’. They prepare your files to the specifications of a printer, magazine, Web host, television studio or any other output medium to ensure trouble-free output of a final finished product (such as a printed flyer or a website).
  • How do we get started? What kind of timeline can I expect for my entire project?
As a very broad generalization, my design process follows the following steps: Once I receive your initial inquiries, I will send you my client questionnaire to submit your project desires to me. Within 48 hours, I will either be in touch to clarify your requirements or provide you with a basic price quote for your project. Once you have accepted the basic price quote, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin the project via gohopscotch.com; the invoice will be sent via email, & records will be kept under "documents & payments" on our shared notion portal. I will prepare your project timeline as I conduct more thorough creative research about you, your company/product/service and your design tastes and requirements. Paired with your creative input & answers from the client questionnaire, I will provide you with 2-3 mood boards + creative directions for your brand identity. This takes anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. You will provide comments on the design concepts, either approving a concept or requesting revisions. There is typically a series of revisions throughout the project as your comments and changes are integrated into a more refined vision. I allow time for adequate collection of information, market research, and design concepts. Once you have approved your basic brand guidelines, I will prepare the rest of your deliverables & prepare final files for handover. All packages receive two rounds of revisions--any additional changes will be charged to the final price of your project, upon agreement. This takes anywhere from 1-8 weeks. Final files are delivered to you upon retrieval of the full project payment. *Timeline is generalized and can be adjusted to match your schedule.
  • How will I see/approve my designs?
I will upload basic design concepts & progress check-ins onto our shared notion portal as attached PDF files. All files will be watermarked, and any designs presented are available for purchase. Depending on the type of project or design requirements, you should see initial design concepts anywhere from 2-5 business days. Upon concept selection + mood board approval, I will start the rest of the design process.
  • What if I change my mind in the middle of a job? Can I make edits to my artwork?
No problem at all! I am happy to consider your comments/revisions at any point throughout the project. For most all deliverables, I offer several options to choose from/combine; before any design work is done, I will clarify all questions necessary to properly capture your vision. All packages receive two rounds of revisions--any additional requests will be charged to the final price of your project, upon agreement. *Your artwork will be created in a vector format, so you can use any vector editing application (i.e. Adobe Illustrator) to open, change and edit your files as you please, post-contract.
